These notes on Jemez Mountains fishing are excerpted from the Friends of Fenton Lake articles that appear in the After the Thunder newspaper published in Jemez Springs. They provide a window into Jemez fishing as a function of time and are reported twice a month.
The lower (NM 4 bridge upstream of the village down to the NM 485 bridge) was stocked the week ending November 22 with 1050 triploid rainbow trout. Socking sites most often used are at San Diego and The Bluffs Fishing Accesses on NM 4 and in Jemez Springs from the downstream Bodhi boundary to the upstream Mooney Bridge and roughly ¼ mile downstream of the bridge. Fenton Lake was stocked the week ending 11/27/24 with 1332 triploids.
The Gilman Tunnels are still closed for maintenance but should be open soon. Fishing the Guadalupe River can still be done by using FR 376 south of NM 126. Water levels remain at a daily high of roughly 25 cfs – a healthy level for this time of year.
